Which Longoria Deal to get SP? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Wed Aug 12, 2009 10:33 am

I need SP, so even though I can keep Longoria for 2 more years, I am tempted to make a move. Any of these?

Deal A.) I give Longoria and get Felix and Wainwright

Deal B.) I give Longoria and get Mark Reynolds and Wainwright.

Deal C.) I give Longoria and Votto and get Felix and Matt Holliday

OR do I do this deal on the table: give Votto, Napoli, Volstad and get Greinke, Werth, K.Suzuki?

12 Team H2H league, with 6 Keepers -- (SO I have to choose 6 to keep for next year. All player are keeper eligible, but those with a "K" are under contract and go back into the draft after 2010, the others after 2011).

stat categories: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG -- IP, W, L, CG, ER, ERA, K, SV, WHIP

My Team:

C Napoli
1B Pujols (K)
2B Utley (K)
SS Jeter (K)
3B A-Rod (K)
OF Damon (K)
OF McLouth (K)
OF N.Morgan
UT Longoria
UT Votto (K)
UT Butler
B Griffey, Wieters, Dukes

SP Sabathia (K), Halladay (K), Billingsley, Oswalt, Volstad, Blanton, Holland
RP Broxton, Street

I would stick with Longoria for sure. None of those deals are very appealing. Without him, your keeper options fall off the table.

I do like the Votto/Napoli/Volstad for Grienke/Werth/K.Suzuki deal though. Go with that one if you absolutely must have a SP.
Or, target less expensive pitchers like Buerhle, Nolasco or Dempster.

There is no way I trade Longoria for any of those deals. I personally am not a big fan of keeping pitching, I'd rather have a bunch of elite bats and grab pitchers from the WW. Every year there are so many pitchers that don't get drafted that have such good years which is why I always hold on to an elite bat. I pieced off most of my top tier pitchers this year to get huge keeper bats in the 1st year of my keeper league. I say hold on to Longoria unless you get a deal that blows you away in which you get a huge bat in return.

I would probably pass. Your staff is already pretty loaded the way it is, so I don't think you need another SP. Keep Longoria for free for the next 2 years.

Make the Votto deal since it looks like you wont keep him. Werth has been great and should fill in nicely. Obviously Greinke is a great upgrade over Volstad.
