Need a 3rd baseman - Accept trade for DeRosa?

Postby Tenacious D-Store » Tue Aug 11, 2009 11:32 pm

This is a 6x6 (OPS & Holds) Dynasty league.

I get
DeRosa
Lilly
& Zippy (Marc Rzepczynski)

I give up
Nelson Cruz
& Todd Helton

I don't really want to give up Cruz, but I do have Hawpe in RF and Cruz often sits on my bench. This will happen more often in future seasons as Miggy loses 3rd base eligibility and takes up on of my Utility spots. I often prefer to play Bourne in my other utility spot since it's a H2H league and I like to get some speed in there. Cruz and Helton sort of platoon in the other spot.

I would not do that trade, despite the loss of 3B eligibility for Miggy. I see Cruz as too valuable, especially since you have two Utility spots with Helton getting another year older and Bourn batting above his head this year. I would not bench a healthy Cruz in your lineup. Also, DeRosa is no spring chicken.

No chance. Cruz's value may be slipping little by little, but he's certainly worth more than those two veterans.

Yeah, I suppose I knew that. Thanks guys. I tried to get Alex Gordon on the cheap earlier in the season, turns out that owner is no longer active and needs to be replaced. It's a risk, but if I can get him cheap enough I might try with the new owner during the off season. I was hoping Casey McGehee (who is also on this team, I must have accidentally deleted him) would play more 3rd base and be eligible there next year, doesn't look like that will happen.
