Keeper Options - 1B - WHIR

Postby theinflatinator91 » Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:46 pm

12 team h2h league. basic 5x5 scoring. 6 of 12 teams make playoffs i am currently in 9th place 33 games back of 1st. we keep 12 players...

I need a first baseman. Do I pick up any of these guys for a potential keeper next year?

I just picked up Travis Snider for Rick Porcello.

Billy Butler, Daniel Murphy, or Kyle Blanks. I am thinking Butler or Blanks.

Would you keep davis next year?

I think I am going to make a package of Buchholz/Happ/Oswalt of some sort to upgrade myself at first. What do you think.

Blanks, the Padres actually thought he would be their 1st baseman of the future. They really didn't realize how good A-Gone would be. They thought Blanks was better, he's not just a fluke.

You have plenty of keeper options. I wouldn't even worry about Butler/Blanks/et. al.

I would hold onto 3B David Wright, OF Justin Upton, C Matt Wieters, OF Jason Bay, P Yovani Gallardo, P Tommy Hanson, P Brandon Webb and OF Jay Bruce (not much trade value on those last two) for sure. (If I had to choose 4 more: Ludwick, ARam, Zobrist, Oswalt)

Use the rest of your guys (Ludwick, ARam, Zobrist, Oswalt, Nolasco, Soria, Francisco) to hammer out 2 or 3 solid keepers. Maybe overpay slightly for a Votto or Adrian Gonzalez... Turn your older starters into a younger one (Kershaw?)... Try to consolidate your 2 solid SS into 1 (Tulo?)... Send away your closers to competing teams.... Whatever floats your boat.

But after your fireworks, I would have no problems keeping Chris Davis as one of my last keepers.
