Hanley offer - On the clock

Postby rich_16 » Tue Aug 11, 2009 5:22 pm

I was just offered Hanley in my 12 team, 4 player keeper.

His Hanley and Posada for my Mauer, Rollins and Markakis. Owner is in second place looking to upgrade power, avg, obp.

I just posted about a possible Kinsler deal then this rolls across my desk.

In any event, my potential keepers are:

Miggy
Tex
Kemp
Markakis
Mauer
Rollins
I also have Vlad, Uggla and Bruce...

WHIR

Any thoughts? I feel like this is a no brainer for me.

HanRam is a fantasy god but Mauer gives you offense like no other catcher.

Check this trade analyzer out, a wee bit helpful.

Are you competing for this year? If not, than it is a total no-brainer. You get one of the top 5 players in baseball while really just consolidating your keeper talent. if you think you can win this year though, this deal becomes tougher to pull trigger.

I am in 5th place, but too far out of 3rd to really compete this year. I also think doing this deal drops me in the standings so I can pick in the top 3-4 next year, which is preferable to 8th.

If that's the case, its a no-brainer

with you saying that you are out of it then there is no way you can even think about it PULL THE TRIGGER!! IMO Markakis is a nice young OF, but potentially overrated by alot, you can get the same production he gives you later in the draft, Rollins is a good SS but again i think overrated because of what he did a couple years ago... i agree that Mauer is a STUD at C, but you are talking about potentially the #1 if not #2 fantasy stud in the game... GET HANRAM!!

and wow Sweet keepers after that...

Miggy/Teix/Kemp/HanRam, ummm hell yeah!!

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

I agree with the posters above. I would make this trade to help consolidate your keepers.

I personally disagree with the group on this one as I'd stay put. Hanley is great at a scarce position, but so is mauer. Plus Rollins is either the 2nd or 3rd best SS in drafts next year depending on how you view reyes. He also has won an MVP award and was drafted top 20 this year himself. Markakis is infinitely better than bruce, vlad or uggla as a keeper as well.

I understand the allure of getting hanley, but i'd rather have rollins, mauer and markakis than hanley, vlad and uggla or bruce for next season.
