I would say that they are comparable in that they are both 1B with patience and power, but I like Smoak a little bit better as Alonso needs to work on hitting lefties. Although Smoak has had some struggles of his own in AAA with a .219/.323/.336 in 137ab. He does have a low .263 BABIP, which is pretty low, so I would expect his average to come up a bit. I have Smoak in my top 10 overall prospects while YAlonso is top 25 overall. Hope that helps.

I had Adrian Gonzalez on my fantasy team and then traded him for some pitching help and was using todd helton for the year and some team pestered me for Smoak so I wound up getting Votto. and i figure having Alonso for homerun power cant hurt since im last in the league in that.

Im also looking for a decent rookie catcher

basically can you tell me about JP arencibia on the blue jays

carlos santana and lou marson in Cleveland?

also when do you think those three get called up?

I like Carlos Santana by far out of that bunch. If you can wait til next season, I would grab Jesus Montero. If not Carlos Santana will likely be up this season.

I need a catcher right now. So would it be wise to stash Santana on my bench even though he might not be a catcher in a couple of years because of Lou Marson? Do you see Santana being called up in Sept.?
