With just a few weeks left in the season, I'm in a tight race for a wildcard spot. My shot of making the playoffs is there, but it's not certain. The league trade deadline is Aug. 21. The league is 10 team, head to head. We get to keep five. I've listed below the five I plan on keeping.
So, I got the following offer from another contender for the same playoff spot:
I give:
Phillips & Verlander
I get:
Ubaldo Jimenez & Kinsler
I've been a fan of Kinsler for some time and so now I'm torn. He's out for now, and you never know how long it'll take for him to rehab, although they're saying he'll be back quick. Phillips has performed acceptably, so I'm not getting killed at 2B.
I like his youth. I might take this deal, and try to move Howard for Braun, to get younger and stronger in OF for next year. But I have no idea if Braun's owner would take it. I'm also a Jimenez fan long term too. UGH. I'm very conflicted.
Puhleaze....help me out

It's close, but I wouldn't do it. I had Ubaldo as a rookie, but for some reson I am not as high on him as I was. And while I like Kinsler a lot, I'm wondering if the injury-prone label is accurate. IMO the difference between Verlander and Ubaldo is greater than that between Phillips and Kinsler, so I wouldn't do it.
As a side note, I drafted Howard one spot before Braun in one of my leagues and have been kicking myself ever since. I don't think the other owner will do it...if he does, great; if he doesn't, if I were you, see if you can thrown in something else to change his mind.
No way can you do this. Kinsler's on the DL and there's never any guarantees a guy comes back healthy without nagging effects. Phillips puts up more than respectable numbers at 2b himself and the downgrade from Verlander is pretty significant. You've gotta stand pat here.
Yeah, don't do this. Verlander is an equal to Kinsler as far as keeper worthiness (simply because Kinsler has not proven he can remain healthy). Phillips is no slouch at second base either adn ranks right up there with a health Kinsler.
I wouldn't do it , Kinsler seems to get nagging injuries, I like Ubaldo, but the fact he plays for Colorado is a minor red flag and Verlander is just nasty, plus Phillips not that much older than Kinsler (1 year) and has been hitting better this season.
