How do you think he will be this year as the braves catcher...they felt they could let Javy go so he should be pretty good...DO you guys think he will be better then say a above average catcher like ramon hernandez? In a points league or a roto league?

He is a guy definitely worth keeping an eye on. He will go undrafted in most 12 team universal leagues, and I wouldnt personally take him before Ramon Hernandez or guys like that. There are probably better options of guys for you to draft.

In a 12 team mixed league, not drafting him and watching is the best thing to do. There is one reason and one reason alone they traded Millwood for Estrada and let Javy go as a free agent. Money.

If you believe the average projections from the mainstream fantasy sources, (14 sources) Estrada's numbers are very similar to a Toby Hall, who is normally dafted sooner. They have R. Hernandez as getting more AB so his numbers look a little better...but not 'enough better' to justify the very large discrepancy in draft position.

I see him as a second catcher who isn't going to hurt you. He's not gonna help you in the power cat's but he isn't going to hurt you and may actually help in the Avg. cat.

The guy to take is Eli Marrero if he can get enough games at C to qualify early. In addition to C, he will also most likely see plenty of OF time once JD Drew gets injured. He could also see some time at 1B and 3b. He could give you 20HR and 15 SB if he gets the playing time.
