He'll be there until they have something better and that ain't happening anytime soon. Wake or Dice-K are not close to ready and Bowden is still developing and is only appropriate for a spot start or two.

Why do you think he should stay? - so the Sox can lose?

I was watching the Yankee game last night and Smoltz could not retire lefty batters if his life depended on it. The Yankees lineup last night was extremely lefty heavy (by design) with every single batter hitting lefty except for jeter and Arod.

He just doesn't look like himself. His slider isn't as sharp as it used to be. I think he's done.

Well, looks like there is a good chance I will eat my own words. Listening to WEEI today and there are rumors out that
Smoltz has left NY and headed to Alanta. Heavy speculation that his career with Boston is over.

Wow, 2 months ago you would have thought the Red Sox had the deepest pitching in the majors, now they are very very thin.
