Might not be a bad spot start tomorrow at Petco. I will be starting him in my NL only league.

Of Parnell's 94 minor-league appearances, 92 came as a starter. He technically has four pitches - a fastball, sinker, slider and changeup - although he's relied mostly on the fastball/sinker combo as a reliever since his Sept.15 debut last season. Minor-league teammates used to rib Parnell because his velocity would reside in the low-90s, then leap 5 mph when he got into trouble.

Per Daily News.

He has pitched decent enough in his MR role, but I am not sure that his secondary stuff is developed enough to have success in a starting role. From what I have read, his slider and changeup are both works in progress, and not really developed pitches as of yet. Perhaps in his time as a MR he was able to continue working on the pitches, but we shall see.

OddManout is correct. As a Mets fan, we have not seen ANY of his secondary stuff out of the pen. This start will tell us a lot on where he is in terms of being able to throw his other pitches effectively for strikes. I would imagine that he will be on a strict pitch count seeing as he has been in the pen all year and it was a very impulsive decision to start him. I would take a wait and see approach.

I usually pick up every pitcher who goes against San Diego at Petco, so...

He'll have to pitch very well to stay in the game long enough to pick up a decision, I think. As Nails86 says, he's been in the pen all year, and we really have no idea what to expect over a longer outing.

I agree with this guy, especially about the pitch count thing. Also, are they moving him to the rotation for multiple starts, or is it a spot start? because if it's a spot start, I could see this going 60 piches or so (3 innings) and then bullpen time....

Yeah, theres no way he makes it 5 innings, unless he's throwing a no-hitter, or close to it. He'll never get it in under the pitch count

Haha dude, start we were talking about was last night. And yeah, he only made it into the 3rd before they had to pull him, and he didn't even pitch well....
