I don't know if Billy has given up on Sweeney yet.
But it's getting a tiny bit less crowded with Patterson getting sent down.

Manager Bob Geren tabbed Davis as his everyday center fielder following Eric Patterson's demotion to the minors, the team's web site reports.

Recommendation: Davis' speed threat alone makes him roster-worthy is deeper leagues, particularly now that he's getting regular at-bats going forward. The A's have some depth in the outfield when the eventual slump comes, but it looks like they'll ride him while he's hot.
