I think there is more of a chance that his season is pretty much done than there is that we see him come back and produce at a high level during the fantasy playoffs. Oblique injuries are tough and last year it derailed him for a month and if I recall correctly, his production was spotty at best.

He's their franchise player. They're playing for nothing at this point. They have no incentive to rush him back. I wouldn't be optimistic at this point...unfortunately

I have him on my DL and after announcing he's available to my league the best offer I have gotten is Jarrod Washburn.

Should I do this trade or is he for sure going to come back??

It's a wait and see, in my opinion. If you're desperate for pitching help, I suppose you could dump him for Washburn, but I wouldn't even be remotely interested in that deal. If you're in a keeper, you don't deal him for anyone.

I'm not desperate for it, but I'm battling for a playoff spot and it's not keeper. Reading your last post you said it took a month last year and his performance was subpar afterwards. I could use another arm, but with Washburn's struggles in Detroit so far I'm not that interested either. All boils down to whether Upton has any value for the remainder of the season. Unfortunately, I guess no one knows whether he does or not

Yeah, that's the tough part. He probably doesn't have any value to anyone else with only a few weeks left and with no idea of how he is going to come back from the injury.

OF Justin Upton (oblique strain) hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in his second game on a rehab assignment at Class A Visalia, a 12-3 victory over San Jose in which he served as the DH. He was hitless but had a walk and an RBI in his first rehab game Monday after being out since Aug. 5. The D-backs believe he will only need a few days of rehab before returning, and they could use him -- they only have three true outfielders on the active roster, and all three hit left-handed. Upton hits right.
