No love for July's best hitter?

Postby TexasStampede » Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:13 am

Erick Aybar quietly tore it up in July! with a .414 bavg and 18 rbis plus a whole lot of runs. i have tulo as my starting SS but i just picked him up for the stretch run and to prevent any other potential playoff contenders from having him. ;-D

Well...Aybar was great in July, don't get me wrong...but for me personally D. Lee and R. Ludwick really made me like my team again. So I'd like to hijack the thread and give a shout out to them. :-D

Aybar has hit for a crazy average recently...no question about that. ;-D

Well if Willingham was on any of my teams I'm sure he would have made my short list... ;-) Although D. Lee's and Ludwick's July numbers are right on par with Willingham's, so I'm not sure what you're fussing about. :-D

aybar's been hot but man orlando cabrera has been scorching!

aybar's not gonna give you much in the HR and SB dept. and his hot hitting will cool down.

According to BaseballMonster.com, from July 1 to July 31, the top 10 hitters were:

    Abreu
    Holliday
    Rollins
    Lee, D
    Ludwick
    Jones, Garrett
    Morgan, N
    Utley
    Willingham
    Victorino

Abreu dominates in their ranking system---leading the top 10 guys in both RBI and Runs, while batting .380 (and tossing in 5 SBs and 4 HR) Among the top 10 hitters, Willingham was next to last in Runs and in the bottom half in both SBs and Average (albeit with a nice .330...but he can't compete with the .380s and the .412 from Holliday)

Include pitchers, and Wandy and Wainwright sneak into the bottom half of the list, bumping Willingham and Victorino out.
