what? in what crazy league does atkins have any trade value??? even in my deepest leagues he's a FA and i doubt anybody is interested in picking him up.
His plate discipline went south 2006-2008, having a 79/76 BB/K change into a 40/100 shouldn't go unnoticed. This year he has some strike zone judgment back and his power has fallen off the map.
Surely there is a hitting coach out there that can fix him (assuming he's not hurt). If he gets traded somewhere I might buy into him, should cost nothing.

I have no clue what his future really is, but it seems every time there is a thread about him here at the cafe, he hits. So far today: 2-3, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, BB
If he could only keep it up.
There are a few things with the New York Yankees that never change. That's pride, tradition, and most of all, we have the greatest fans in the world. -Derek Jeter, 9/21/08 -- last words from old Yankee Stadium

That's assuming wants to trade for him though. I'm sure the Rockies have attempted to move him this season.
As for his future - some spot starts at third base, pinch hitting, but mainly sitting on the bench watching the team play well without him. It'll be interesting to see if someone gives him a starting job next season.
He did have 4 RBI's to beat the phils yesterday. I think it's just an off year for him and the rockies should wait for him to heat up. He'll be an excellent asset in the playoffs
