M.Cabrera - Solid Keeper and Short Term Solution?

Postby jmcampbe11 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 6:43 pm

Background
10 team roto league.
We keep our best three players each season.
Currently in 2nd place overall.
My worst categories are batting average and runs.

Trade
I GIVE - A.Gonzalez/ Sandoval/ M.Young (Sandoval IS NOT catcher eligible)
I GET - Mi.Cabrera/ Zimmerman/ Beckham

Pros
I improve in batting average (hopefully) and runs and sure up my keepers (i.e., Sizemore, Longoria, Mi.Cabrera).

Cons
Taking a huge gamble on Beckham being able to fill M.Young's shoes.

My TeamC-Martin 1b-A.Gonzalez 2b-Phillips ss-Alx.Ramirez 3b-Longoria CI-Sandoval MI-M.Young OF-Sizemore, Ad.Jones, Choo, Pence, Kubel Util-C.Jones Bench-J.Rivera, Milledge SP-Greinke, Gallardo, Danks, Nolasco, *Lilly RP-Broxton, Qualls, Lidge, J.Johnson, Nunez

Do it. I like it this year, I love it for the future. I imagine that Gonzo is going to stay in San Diego for a long time now with Peavy off the books. If you were thinking of making him your third keeper, you definitely upgrade by acquiring MCab.

i'd make the deal. you upgrade your keepers and maintain the ability to win this year. i'm not a huge fan of a-gon in the 2nd half.
