Ellsbury for Kemp - Please help

Postby The_Idiot » Mon Aug 03, 2009 5:52 pm

I get Jacoby Ellsbury
I give Matt Kemp

12 Team Roto Re-draft

I am leaning towards no; especially with Kemp maybe moving up in the LA batting order, but there are lots of points to be made in SBs. I have made a huge leap in the overall standings over the past month. ;-D In SBs, I am still near the bottom of the pack getting only 2 points. :-o However, I am only 16 SBs aways from getting 9 points. That 6 point jump would be huge. I did however just add Rajai Davis (15 SBs in 150 ABs) and Everth Cabrera (13 SBs in 162 ABs) perhaps they will be enough to move me up. :-S

My Roster (12 Team Roto re-draft):
SP Matt Cain
SP Yovani Gallardo
SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Chad Billingsley
SP Ubaldo Jimenez
SP Jorge de la Rosa
SP Jeff Niemann
SP Brian Matusz

2B Orlando Hudson
SS Ryan Theriot
3B Ryan Zimmerman
MI Maicer Izturis (SS,2B)
CI Billy Butler(1B)
OF Justin Upton
OF Andrew McCutcheon
OF Nick Markakis
OF Johnny Damon
OF Matt Kemp
UT Rajai Davis (OF)

Bench - Hank Blalock (1B/3B)
Bench - Erick Aybar (SS)
Bench - Rick Ankiel (OF)
Bench - Geovany Soto (C) (DL)
Bench - Nick Johnson (1B)
Bench - Brett Gardner

It really all depends how much of Kemp's power you can afford to lose. If you're a solid amount of HRs ahead of the next guy and you don't have as many points to lose in that area compared to how many points you can gain from steals, then do the trade.

What I would do is:

Project how many HRs you think Kemp will get you over Ellsbury. Project how many steals you think Ellsbury will get you over Kemp. Plug in those numbers to your standings and see how it affects where you are.

The kicker is the RBIs though. Kemp might drive in 100 this year. Ellsbury will be lucky to get to 70 I think.

My intuition is to stick with Kemp.

Here's one of mine:
