Trade Help (Time Sensitive) - WHIR!

Postby Willy T 4 MVP » Mon Aug 03, 2009 5:17 pm

I've got a trade on the table to which I have to respond quickly:

I give: Frank Francisco and Scott Pods
I get: Johnny Damon and Adam Kennedy

Pods and Kennedy are probably a wash (although i like pods a tad better). I think in terms of pure value Damon's gotta be worth more than FF, but I'm not sure if this trade is wise based on my team needs/standings.

My Roster:

12 team 5x5 roto with 7 man benches (i.e. very weak waiver wire).

C - Mauer
1B - Vmart
2B - Utley
3B - Wright
SS - Alexei
CI - Aramis
MI - Furcal
OF - C Lee
OF - Ells
OF - Reimold
OF - Milledge
OF - Podsednik
U - N Johnson
U - Jake Fox / Seth Smith

P - Linceum
P - Gallardo
P - Vazquez
P - Hamels
P - Baker
P - Smoltz
P - Francisco
P - Howell
P - Franklin

AVG: 3rd
HR: 12th (12 HR behind 11th place)
RBI: 8th
R: 6th
SB: 1st

K: 4th
ERA: 9th
WHIP: 4th
W: 1st
SV: 7th (10 saves separate 7th and 2nd place, so 5 easy pts are right there for the taking)

Saves are so close that it seems smarter to try to gain 5 pts in saves by adding another closer than to trade a closer for Damon who may not even pull me out of 12 place in HR.

That being said, Damon is prob worth more than FF on a pure value basis.

Accept?

I don't do this trade. If saves are competitive for you, but you have a long-shot to win home-runs, why do this trade? Keep what you have.

Help on mine? viewtopic.php?t=395206

This is just my opinion, but I think you are giving the best two players in the deal. I have never been a Damon fan, and while I do like Kennedy, he is a FA in two of my leagues and has not been picked up in weeks, so I would not trade for him.

Thanks for help on mine...what would your opinion be if I was the one getting Braun?

On face value I like Damon better, but with where you are in terms of your league, making this trade would be foolish. FF may not be the best closer, but with him you have a much better chance to gain on saves than you do with Damon in HR's

thanks for helping with mine

keep francisco and pods. kennedy is not that great and damon is solid, but not worth the two you give up.
