New offer for MCab(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Mon Aug 03, 2009 4:43 pm

If any of you have read my last post I am shopping MCab and SHields around for the best offer because they are on one year contracts and I can't keep them past this year plus I need another quality starter for this year and to keep for next year. I can make up points in the Wins, ERA, and WHIP cats and am pretty solid on offense.

It is an AL only league, 10 teams, 23 man rosters, 7 keepers with 3 year contracts, 5x5 roto style

Two offers have come in that are intriguing:

1. His Michael Young(2 years), Marcus Thames(3 years), Edwin Encanarcion(3 years) and Jared Weaver(3 years) for my M. Izturis, Scott Hairston, MCab, and Shields

2. His Felix(2 years), Huff(2 years), and Padilla(3 years) for my Shields, MCab and Pettitte

What do you guys think about these deals? I am leaning towards doing deal 1 but I love the idea of getting Felix. What do you guys think?

My Team:

1B-MCab
2B-J. Lopez

Thanks for the help! I just wanted one person to tell me I wasn't crazy. I already accepted the Bay for Washburn deal.

I'd go for number two, but only if you could get someone other than Padilla, he's worthless.

Neither deal sounds that exciting. Aren't there other teams with good first rounders who are on limited playing contracts as well? Sounds to me like you should be swapping them.

i have to say i really dont like either deal (although i def like #2 better). i realize that mcab and shields are in contract years, but i've gotta think you can get someone to overpay for the name value of mcab and shields. i dont see anything about keeping marcus thames and jered weaver that excites me.

Hey DVauthrin,

The Weaver owner isn't going to budge from this offer. We have already been back and forth on things and this is the most he is willing to offer. He is in first place and has some wiggle room. I am leaning towards this deal because I get a solid starter for this year to help me move up and I can keep him for the next two years. Also getting Michael Young will help the loss of MCab and I can keep him next year as well.

For those of you who thing deal#2 is better could you please elaborate a little bit and please any advice is helpful as I am going to make my decision tonight. So, please help and leave your links. Thanks.

I probably wouldn't do either but if I had to choose it would be #2.

Fair enough, when I posted I felt like you could have squeezed more out of these guys. Considering era/whip are two of the 3 areas you can make major ground i'd take the felix deal. weaver has been brutal the last month, and felix is the best keeper offered back to you.

if you are more interested in getting better value for next season while gambling on a move up now, do deal 1.

Can someon explain to me why the Felix deal is that much better than the Michael Young deal? Getting Huff and Padilla with the loss of Cabrera and Pettitte just doesnt excite me that much. But, I do understand that getting Felix would be a big step for me. Thanks and leave your links.
