Who to drop for Smoltz?

Postby TeamMikeDeveraux » Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:14 am

Hey guys,
Smoltz and Buchholz are on the wire. Who should I drop to snag them? (I dont know if I want to snag Buchholz).
I think the easiest way to do this is to rank:
Fowler, CYoung, Span, Millege

Thanks and WHIR. Team and league info is below.

12 team, H2H, nonkeeper
C Wieters
1B Fielder
2B Utley
SS Tulowitzki
3B Longoria
IF Votto
OF Holliday, MannyRam, McLouth, DSpan
UTIL DeRosa (1B/2B/3B/OF)
BN Milledge, CYoung, Dexter Fowler
DL Torii Hunter

SP Verlander, Gallardo, Oswalt, Nolasco
RP Capps, JP Howell, RSoriano, JJohnson
BN Brett Anderson
DL Volquez

Any other options than Smoltz or Bucholz on the WW? I don't like either of them this year. Bucholz is young and inconsistent, and Smoltz is old and inconsistent, lol. Either way, their ceilings are both pretty low at their respective stages of their careers. Try and see if some sneakier options are available, like Jorge De La Rosa or Joe Blanton, guys who had horrible starts to the year but have gotten substantially better in recent months.

Help on mine? viewtopic.php?t=395206

I think both Young and Fowler are very droppable. You could get rid of both of them for Smoltz and Buchholz, but I would only spot start Buchholz and I wouldn't pitch Smoltz at all until he shows he can put together a few consecutive solid outings.

As for your rankings, I'd probably put them Span, Milledge, Young, Fowler.
