I still don't think he's been quite the same since he was brought into that crazy 18 inning game last year against SD (I think it was SD?)
If I remember right Volquez had thrown 100+ pitches 2 days earlier, and then Dusty brings him into that extra inning game.
Harang hasn't been quite the same since then either.
He had an excellent game in the previous one too.... 6 innings, 12 Ks.
So with the 92 he threw in the start previously this relief appearance made it 131 pitches in 3 days
So maybe the equation is: 131/3 + 110< x 5 = surgery.

Volquez / starts & inning progression
2004 - 29 starts / 125 inn
2005 - 22 starts / 135 inn
2006 - 29 starts / 150 inn
2007 - 36 starts / 180 inn
2008 - 32 starts / 195 inn
granted he's had more starts & innings in the minors, but his progression looks fine to me, I for one can't blame this one on Dusty.

He threw 120 pitches once in '08, and 115+ 4 times (3 of those were in Sept). I still don't see any glaring indications that Dusty overworked this guy.

Dusty Baker is garbage. It saddens me that he has a job and I don't.

I disagree. I think those with poor spelling skills are the

I think the only way to judge abuse is to see how many pitches the pitcher throws under stress and/or when he is tired. Injuries tend to occur when a pitcher is tired and it wouldn't surprise me if Dusty leaves his starters in longer than he should.
It's hard to blame Dusty 100% for some of these injuries but you simply cannot ignore that they happen under his watch. Cueto seems like another young pitcher who is falling apart after a good start and he is also not past his injury nexus.

Then Dusty Baker has indirectly made you sad as well.
