What is a fair price for J Reyes - keeper WHIR

Postby Mark Davis » Sat Aug 01, 2009 11:14 pm

I'm out of it for this year. We keep 7, no salary implications, 14 team points league NOT roto.

Here are my top guys now:

Braun, Wieters, Rollins, Sizemore, Beltran, Quentin, Johan, Peavy, Billingsley

Obviously I have 9 I'm considering. I've just been offered:

his Reyes and Magglio for my Rollins, Quentin, and Sizemore.

I'm tempted just because of my situation. I'm working on trying to flip Beltran into a SP and packaging with Sizemore and Ryan Franklin for Justin Upton. I'm not sure either owner will accept that one though.

One thing I'm thinking of countering with is Reyes for Rollins, Sizemore, and Ethier. I'd think that might get it done.

I know that is a lot but is that a fair price given my circumstances? Basically my keepers would then be Braun, Wieters, J Reyes, Beltran, Johan, Peavy, Billingsley. For the record, SP in our league are pretty vital so keeping 3 SP wouldn't bother me.

Interested in thoughts on the proposed deal and what J Upton's value would be as well as far as what I'd pay for him.

so why would you trade the best player in the deal away? keep Reyes, there isn't any point in flipping him for 3 potential keepers when you would then essentially not be able to keep 2 of them... if you want justin upton why not just use reyes to get him? send Reyes/Beltran for Upton/keeper... that would be my best advice... i mean don't get me wrong the trade for Rollns, Quentin and Sizemore is a crazy, crazy good deal for you, but no sense if your tossing in the towel to trade away the best player in the deal...right?

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I'd be the team getting Reyes.

Eh, it's tough. At first glance it looks like you have nice keeper depth, but in reality, there are some big question marks. I'm not a fan of Beltran as a keeper at this point since Metco suppresses homers a lot and more importantly, there are recent reports suggesting he'll need microfracture surgery which could cost him all of 2010. Additionally, while I love Billingsley, he's been so bad lately that he's no sure thing. Given this situation,I don't think you have a ton of depth to deal from.

I would hold on to the guys you have and wait it out, or counter by taking Sizemore out of the deal and including Beltran. If he bites, celebrate, if not I think you can do better.

Help, please:

I would take Reyes. By far the best player in the deal.

Rollins has been trending downward, and his health for next year is, I believe, more assured than Grady's. I'd do that deal.

Quentin and Maggs are whatever...I shouldn't say whatever on Quentin, sorry, but IMO it boils down to Reyes for Rollins and Sizemore...hmmm...I think it's an overpay, but you're getting the best player in the deal at the thinnest position...i'd do it. Or why not try the same package for Hanley?

I for sure wouldnt do it! Maglio is just garbage... Quentin is a stud.... maybe not a keeper with your team but for this year, wayyyy better then maggs (waiver wire material).... I think your giving up way too much for reyes. Rollins, Quentin and Sizemore for 1 player? Sizemore may have a tanked season this year... but the dude is just off nearly a 40-40 season... next year he will be as healthy as ever... trust me your gonna wish you didnt trade sizemore!.... Quentin + Rollins I think is enough for Reyes straight up... but if you want to sweeten the deal send him someone else then Sizemore..

Hope this helps
