Time to Trade Greinke?

Postby Renshaw » Sat Aug 01, 2009 7:26 pm

10 Team H2H Keeper League, 6x6 cats (5x5 w/ OBP and HLD). We keep 8 players.

I was offered:

Jon Lester/Nelson Cruz/Brian Fuentes
for
Zack Greinke/Andre Ethier

Is this deal worth accepting? I might be losing a bit in pitching, gaining SP and maybe gaining a bit of power (though I can't say that for sure right now with Ethier heating up).

Here's my team:

C Doumit
1B Morneau
2B Phillips
3B Zimmerman
SS Zobrist [2B,OF]
OF Dunn [1B]
OF Lind
OF Ethier
Util Ad. Jones
Util McLouth
Bench Al. Ramirez [2B,SS,OF]
Bench Bartlett [SS]

SP Halladay
SP Greinke
SP Billingsley
RP Nathan
RP Hoffman
P CJ Wilson
P Troncoso
P Blackburn
Bench Vazquez
Bench Jurrjens
Bench De La Rosa
Bench Rodriguez
Bench Romero
DL Francisco

i think its a pretty good deal, but would have to try and ask for a more consistent power bat then Cruz... but if you can't i would go for it, you add a nice closer in the process to give you 3 very good sources for saves... try for a bigger bat, but if not i would definitely be alright with Lester replacing Greinke...

help me out...

Which bat would you ask for instead of Cruz? His hitters are:
Iannetta, Huff, Lopez, Chipper, Drew, Cruz, Suzuki, Fowler, Span, Granderson with Bruce, Hunter and Reyes on the DL

Don't know if there's anything he'd add to that deal in place of Cruz.

Go for Grandy instead of Cruz; if he won't bite on that, then I'd still take the deal. Lester is comparable to Greinke and Ethier is compable to Cruz, but you're getting a closer thrown in.

Well he pulled the deal before I could do anything. Said he had second thoughts, and that he figured he could use Cruz down the stretch. He also said he was still interested in trying to make a deal for one of Billingsley or Greinke.

Here's his full team. I told him that I would probably need one of Cruz or Granderson back in the deal, on top of another player (especially if it's for Greinke).

C Chris Iannetta
1B Aubrey Huff
2B Jose Lopez
3B Chipper Jones
SS Stephen Drew
OF Ichiro Suzuki
OF Curtis Granderson
OF Nelson Cruz
Util Denard Span
Util -Empty- (He just dropped Fowler)
Bench Jay BruceDL
DL Torii Hunter
DL Jose Reyes

SP Tim Lincecum
SP Johan Santana
SP Mike Pelfrey
RP Brian Fuentes
RP Andrew Bailey
P Brad Ziegler
P Matt Guerrier
P Chris Tillman
Bench Tommy Hanson
Bench Jon Lester
Bench Randy Wells
Bench David Price
Bench Clayton Kershaw
Bench Chris Volstad
Bench Hong-Chih Kuo
DL Brandon Webb

Ichiro, Webb, Lincecum, Santana, Kershaw and Reyes are the ones he has as untouchable. Of course, it doesn't leave much for me to work with in terms of a trade.
