What pitcher do you like best going forward? WHIR!

10 team, H2H league. R, 2B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, BB, W, L, SV, ERA, WHIP, Ks

C - Wieters
1B - Howard
2B - Figgins
SS - Drew
3B - Arod
OF - JUpton, Hamilton, Markakis
Util - Votto
B - Quentin, Ethier, Sanchez, Scott

SP - Halladay, Oswalt, Vasquez, Nolasco, Scherzer, Buchholz
RP - Soria, Soriano

Here's the deal....this squad is somehow still in last place going into this week. I'm only 10 games out of 5th/6th, but with only 5 weeks left after this week, I need to start making a push NOW. With Drew hitting well of late I think my only real weak spot is at C. Been trying to trade with a guy in my league for VMart for a while now. Tried JUp for VMart, turned down. Recently tried Votto for VMart, also turned down. He sent me a message after rejecting the last one saying he doesn't trust the guys I've been offering and that he wants Howard. I was pretty opposed to letting him go before, but I'm more open now that VMart should put up some nice stats in the middle of the Sox lineup. It's still an overpay, but he did say he'd throw in another player to the deal, and I could use another quality SP, since Scherzer's gonna get shut down at some point. Votto slides into my 1B slot and I can put Ethier or Quentin (who appears to be heating up) in my Util spot, so I don't think I'm losing all that much by giving up Howard. Here's what he's got:

Linececum
E. Jackson
Kershaw
Washburn
Danks
Wolf

...and he's also got a bunch of relievers, Heath Bell who I like most. He's already told me that Lincecum is untouchable no matter who I offer. Who's the best choice out of the rest of the bunch? After looking at the stats of the last 5, every one of them has a BABIP that's significantly lower than usual, which I'm not crazy about. Who should I take? Do I ask for Bell instead?

I like Lincecum or Kershaw. That said are there any hot C's on FA list? I have decent results with C for the moment. I've had 4 so far this year. When someone gets hot I grab them.

Thanks for mine.

But doesn't Kershaw face the same issue as Scherzer with the likely inning limitations? As the Dodgers pull farther away with the lead in the West, isn't it likely that they'll cut back on his innings down the stretch so he's available come playoff time?

I agree with CiminoUM5 that Kershaw will probably be shut down when he gets to ~50+ innings over last year's inning total. (This is assuming that the Dodgers care and don't need Kershaw for the playoffs).

Looking at your team, I can see why your team is in last place. You have Nolasco, ARod, Josh Hamilton, Quentin, Wieters, Drew, Buchholz! All of them either sucked earlier this year or didn't play for the beginning of the season. I would stay patient. If you want to tinker I agree you should go for a SP or a RP.

Thanks for your advice on mine

If you're worried about Kershaw being shut down, Danks is a fine fallback option.

id go for:

1. Lincy
2. Kershaw
3. Danks

but obviously Lincy is gonna be ungodly expensive, Kershaw is a stud but innings could be a potential factor so i say go after Danks hes a high quality arm that could could get probably the cheapest out of the staff he has...

Yeah i agree w/ the post above me. Lincecum is the best pitcher in baseball but if you don't want to shell out for him, Danks is a solid, affordable option. I'd avoid Kershaw b/c of the innings limit.

I'd aim for Danks. He is affordable and solid and should do well the rest of the way.
