Trading for Matt Holiday ... WHIR

Postby ninremix » Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:22 am

I am looking to trade for Matt Holiday ...

Is giving up Josh Hamilton and Ervin Santana too much for Holiday?

no, Holliday hitting behind Albert Pujols will make him more valuable than Hamilton. and Santana is done. his value has diminished. id do it.

If you can win this year, do it.

If you can't, don't.

I agree with this assessment. Long-term though Hamilton would make a better keeper then Holliday. You almost have to give him a free pass year because of his injuries.

Hmmm. Hamilton had one huge year. This year injuries. We don't know whats in store for next year.
Holliday granted was playing in Colorado. BUT did put up very good numbers for more than one year. And has gotten back to hitting since the trade. He also will steal some bases. Is not an injury factor. I think I would rather have Holliday for the rest of this year and going foward.

Tough one. Do you trust Hamilton's one good year? If so, I'd sit tight. If not, pull the trigger. Would you have any intention in keeping either Holliday or Hamilton? That would play another factor. Holliday is the proven commodity, but Hamilton has the higher ceiling at this point IMO.

I would trade either one of those guys for Holliday. He is back in the National league where he belongs and he is in a stacked lineup with plenty of protection.

Help with mine?

I would do it. They are both about the same age and Holiday has been the more proven of the 2. Just depends on if you think Hammy is a one year wonder. As for Ervin, I think hes kind of the same deal. He had 1 good year and injuries are hitting now. I would do the trade.
