Is it ok to cut B. Morrow in a Keeper league?

Postby the izzy » Fri Jul 31, 2009 5:54 pm

10 team, H2H, Keep 8. Can not keep more than 2 players from each rds 1-5 and rds 6-10. So, only 4 keepers can come from rds 1-10.

6x6 w/ OBP and QS as the extra categories.

So far, I've been winning most of the Pitching categories every week w/ my decent line of SP. And I've also done well w/ SB, AVG and OBP in batting. I suck at Runs, HR and RBI. But, no big deal. I'm currently in 3rd (I was in 9th about a month into the season).

So, is it ok to finally cut B. Morrow?

I plan to add a SP if I cut him, as like I said, my Pitching is what is carrying my team.

A few FA that I'm considering grabbing are:
J. Marquis (good for Wins and low ERA)
R. Romero (struggling as of lately)
R. Wells (great for QS - bad for wins and k's.)
S. Richmond (just coming off DL)
C. Wilson (getting SV's now and then)
B. Sheets (just for the fact I could keep him for a last rd pick)

My roster:
c: Wieters
1B: Teix
2B: Cano
3B: M. Reynolds
SS: Jeter
OF: BJ Upton
OF: Ichrio
OF: Soriano
UTIL: Helton
UTIL: Gutierrez
DL: Vladimir Guerrero

SP: C. Carpenter
SP: R. Oswalt
SP: Billingsley
RP: D. Aardsma
RP: Howell
P: Capps
P: R. Harden
BN: Jimenez, Kazmir, Scherzer, B. Morrow, Carmona, J. Duchscherer

Thoughts?

Agree, cut Morrow and Carmona and add Romero and Richmond who is just coming off the DL and showed some good signs of life before the DL stint, if you don't want 2 SP from the same squad then i agree with Romero and Marquis...

help me out...(bottom of 2nd page)

With only 8 keepers, he's not surviving the offseason for you unless he counted somehow as a last rounder (doubtful).

He's a FA in my keep 19 12-team league right now. Am I writing him off? No. But Marquis helps you.

I also agree on Carmona. He is starting this weekend, no? So maybe wait 'til you see if he got it together in the minors. Likely no, but a day or so won't kill you now.

Ya, thanks for the help guys. I just grabbed Carmona yesterday to see how he'd do today. So far, 5IP w/ 4H, 4BB and K. The 4 BB are high, but maybe I'll give him another week.

Can't hurt to see, but give him a very short leash. I know you need value in your keeper slots, but he's borderline unusable in real life.

This is such a pain. I can only keep 7, but he qualifies as a "bottom" keeper since he was drafted after the 10th round. We keep 4 top and 3 bottom. Its a 16 team league and we have 20 roster spots. Not a whole lot of bench.......

I am really considering dropping him...
