More news....if we believe him, JP says Rolen asked to be traded for "personal reasons." I always knew he hated the turf, he said as much himself.
It's actually quite a good trade for the Jays if Rolen didn't want to be here anymore. Both Roenicke and Stewart's peripherals are great. Hurts that entire contending idea, but as a move in itself, it's fine.
4:50pm: Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star reports that the Jays will pay all of Rolen's 2009 salary, nearly $4MM.
with the talk of Rolen, can we talk about Encarnacion? whats his future going to be like? how could he do in Toronto? could he finally produce as expected when he first came up to the Reds? 2004 and 2005 he was ranked #2 prospect for Cincinnati http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/ ... cion.shtml career minor league (648 G/ 2460 AB)- .291 AVG/ .353 OBP/ .451 SLG/ .804 OPS he is still only 26 years old.

Encarnacion is a decent enough hitter (.800 OPS), but he can't field his position at 3rd at all. I would move him if I was the Jays. Either to OF, 1B, or DH.
Keith Law loves the deal for the Jays (likes the prospects, and thinks Encarnacion still has potential offensively), and questions why the Reds have made it.
