I don't like any of the first deals. Even though those guys contracts are expiring, I don't like trading people with that talent to a guy who may use them to carry himself to a trophy. If they want Miguel and Shields, I would be looking at guys like Greinke, Choo, Lind, and Davis. I would want three out of those four. If not, I'd be happier watching MCAB and Shields walk onto FA for next year. Let somebody use a pick on them.
I kind of like option B. Lind is emerging quite nicely, and I'd take Baker over Washburn. Baker has turned things around over the last month and should be solid for the rest of the season. I guess the same can be said of Washburn, I just like Baker better. If you are torn between the two, I'd compare the strength of schedules from here on out.
Something I'd explore though is to see if some one is in the opposite position you are. See if there's a stud pitcher with the same contract duration left on a team needing offense. I understand the need to extract value out of Miggy if possible since you could lose him, but would you keep any of the players in the trade options proposed to you?
Thanks for your input on my Nolasco/Wandy/Bell issue.
I find it strange of all the replies nobody made mention that Rolen has been traded to the NL. This is an AL only league. I'm a Shields owner and I can't get a good trade offer for him. The Rays don't score any runs for him . A No No into the 7th and loses ? And at home. If you can' keep MCab next year then try to make a trade for a solid starter that will help you get in the money. But don't make it with anybody in front of you or wthin striking distance . Keep in mind Shields can't beat the Red Sox .

Well, is Jared Weaver a much better pitcher than Shields? Also, the first trade has been changed to Encanarcion and Weaver for MCab and Shields. The guy we would be trading with here is in first place and untouchable.
The second deal is with a guy who has 54 points and I have 51 points. 55 points is third place. I can basically only make a move on the pitching side of things in WHIP, ERA, and WINS. My offense is solid and second overall and don't think it would change much just losing MCab especially if I get Lind in return. But, I am not sure how much it would help the other guy who would be getting MCab and Shields.
Any other thoughts out there? I am really torn on what to do with this one.
how much time do felix and granderson have on their contracts? if you can keep either one (i'd take felix over granderson as a keeper). and get maybe span as the lesser player? or possibly granderson and niemann. those deals seem pretty solid as long as you can keep one. as far as the original deals go. i completely understand the reasoning and i like that you're shopping them around effectively for the best offer. as for the original two offers, i'd take lind, davis, baker > washburn (and its not close IMO), and another player, i think you could do better than quinlan tho (he won't play once vlad gets back next week and he's not even playing over sean rodriguez right now). also if you're considering repz just be aware that next year he might lose his hold on a rotation spot bc the blue jays have so many injured starters returning (mcgowan, litsch, etc.)
