2:19pm: SI's Jon Heyman says that in their initial conversation, the Mariners requested Joba Chamberlain or Phil Hughes for Washburn. That pair and other top Yankees prospects figure to be off limits, but Heyman still sees New York as the favorite. He notes that the Angels would have interest in bringing Washburn back, but the Mariners might balk at the same-division issue.

There are conflicting reports on whether or not that's true, but I don't really see it as a big deal if it is. I mean the worst they can do is say no, right? And you never know what the other team will say... Like, "What do you want for Freddy Sanchez?" "Tim Alderson!" "Deal!"

Any time someone bumps this topic to the top, my heart skips a beat because I think a trade has gone through. Although I'm now compounding the problem for other Washburn owners.
