Why?
I think they were frustrated with him since he never performs when they call him up and isn't a very good catcher. They looked at him as a DH, which is probably what he's best suited for.
Woudln't surprise me to see them move Doumit? Neil Huntington isn't against "shaking" things up. As we have seen. (McLouth/Morgan/LaRoche/Snell) I still think they make Clement a 1B, Pearce hasn't shown anything since his recall. Also wasn't dominating AAA either. Sure Jones is on fire now, but I doubt its going to last. He will ride out the season, but probably wont start next year. So he will fill his role that being a bench player. SOLID one at that.
BUCCO LINEUP 2010?
CF - McCutchen 2B - Young Jr. (stil think they get him from the Rockies, for Grabow) LF - Milledge C - Doumit 1B - Clement RF - Moss/D.Young 3B - LaRoche SS - Cedeno/Cruz
will pedro alvarez be ready by next year or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
doumit also used to get a few starts at RF, so there is some flexibility in the lineup and in the field.
if jarrod washburn can be this good pitching in safeco then i think anyone has a shot. snell has been pitching well in AAA, needed a change of scenery, and is going to pitcher's park. id take a flier.

Why trade for Clement when you have Doumit?

Pedro got promoted two months ago to Double-A, and started out "awful" but has bounced back and had a solid last couple of weeks, Still I think his long term position might be 1B, unless he can shed some pounds, "improve foot work" and cut down on the errors. I would like to see him at the hot corner, but we shell see. As for your question, I don't see him starting the season @ PNC Park. Will be up for a September call-up in 2010 that's for sure.

That just sad then to give up on a hitter who they never really gave a chance.

Beat me to it.
Kinda sad to see a team give up on a guy with <250 MLB PAs all of which came from prior seasons.

Hope that helps,
The rumor is that when Alvarez is ready they will move LaRoche to 2B.

No clue. I guess cause he's a decent player who plays really good defense?
Yeah, he's one of the top defensive shortstops in baseball and worth fare more in reality than in fantasy as his defense saves runs and supports potential wins.
