Michael Saunders - - another Mariner stiff?

Picked this guy up in a really deep league to replace an inj Berkman and recently traded Blake.
Will I be disappointed or pleasantly surprised??

probably disappointed at first....not every rookie explodes like Ryan Braun. If you can hang on to him forever he's worth hanging on to. A 922 OPS as a 22 year old in AAA is mighty fine ;-D #25 on BA's midseason top 25.

I'll concur. This is more a move to see what they have for next year than anything else. He is a solid bat with a pretty good glove, so he should stick and get the majority of the playing time, but I wouldn't expect him to explode. He's got a good skillset for Safeco and will probably show moderate power and a little speed. He'd maybe be a 15/15 guy for the year but I think a couple more homers and a few less steals would be more likely. He'll also probably struggle a bit against lefties without being totally useless against them.

I probably shoulda asked my question in a different way:
Will he be better than Alex Gordon or Andy LaRoche for the rest of this season??

Maybe! :-B

Seriously, that's impossible to answer. There's really no way to tell what a kid is going to do when he first comes up.

Fair enough :-)

I guess at this point I'll go Gordon, Saunders, and LaRoche and swap as performance dictates.
Thanks for yer help ;-D
