So for all 2 of you who care. I was surprised to learn this today.
Colorado's Starting pitching is actually pretty excellent. Their relief pitching is awful. However, if this is the case you'd think a little RP improvement could go a long way.
Here are some telling stats
Starting Pitching:
#7 ERA in Baseball 4.00
#1 in Wins with 43
#6 In Losses with 30
#3 in HR's allowed with 50
#1 in Win Probability
#9 in Whip with a 1.35
#14 in K's
#14 in BB's
Pretty interesting considering Cook, Jimenez, Marquis, Hammel, De La Rosa doesn't exactly have huge name power.
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

They are keeping the ball on the ground.

Yea thats what they need to do. Marquis, Cook, Ubaldo all have GB stuff. Chacin is a GB guy.
Basically they have 3 Pitchers in the TOP 10 in GB% in Marquis, cook, Ubaldo. While Hammel and De La Rosa are top 35

I would not be surprised in the slightest to see the Rockies playing in October. Sure, they are 8 games out behind the Dodgers in the NL West, but they currently lead the Wild Card with 2 games over San Fran, 2.5 over the Cardinals. The recent addition of Betancourt to shore up their bulllpen should do wonders, and Huston Street has been lights out since a rocky start to the season. To be realistic, though, the Rockies have already gone on their late-season surge, winning a ridiculous 34 of their last 45 games. Maybe the demise comes sooner this year?
