I'm in a 12 team limited 5x5 roto keeper that uses OBP instead of AVG.
I've been offered Greinke for Dunn. I've also been offered Greinke + Luke Scott and for my Dunn + Roy Oswalt.
Would anyone do this? I desparately need pitching but I hate getting rid of Dunn (who has been a keeper for me the last couple years).
My roster: Batters C: Joe Mauer (C) 1B: Albert Pujols (1B) 2B: Howie Kendrick (2B) 3B: Chipper Jones (3B) SS: Cristian Guzman (SS) OF: Adam Dunn (1B,OF), Johnny Damon (OF), Jayson Werth (OF) Util: James Loney (1B) BN: Adam Kennedy (2B,3B,OF), Bengie Molina (C), Adrian Beltre (3B), Jose Reyes (SS) DL: Conor Jackson (1B,OF)
Pitchers SP: Aaron Harang (SP), Carlos Zambrano (SP) RP: Carlos Marmol (RP), Kerry Wood (RP) P: Fernando Rodney (RP), Roy Oswalt (SP), Ervin Santana (SP) BN: Zach Duke (SP), Derek Lowe (SP)
His roster: Batters C: Miguel Montero (C) 1B: Ryan Howard (1B) 2B: Brian Roberts (2B) 3B: Mark Reynolds (1B,3B) SS: Hanley Ramirez (SS) OF: Jason Bay (OF), Jason Kubel (OF), Dexter Fowler (OF) Util: Nick Johnson (1B) BN: Shin-Soo Choo (OF), Luke Scott (OF)
Pitchers SP: Clayton Kershaw (SP), Zack Greinke (SP) RP: Ryan Franklin (RP), Francisco Cordero (RP) P: Phil Hughes (SP,RP), Scott Downs (RP), Mike Gonzalez (RP) BN: Adam Wainwright (SP), Ted Lilly (SP), Max Scherzer (SP,RP), Jon Rauch (RP)
What place are you currently in? What place is he in?
What is Greinke's contract situation? KC can't hold onto him forever and the big boys will come with the cash.
What about Dunn's contract situation?
What other OFs are available?
I think Greinke is more valuable than Dunn but your OF situation is weak with you not really having a 3rd OFer that I'm confident in for the short term. Kennedy does nothing for me even though Conor Jackson could alleviate that once he returns and next year as well.
Sorry, but I can't say whether I'd pull the string on that deal until I knew the answers above. I'm leaning towards taking the Greinke for Dunn deal.
I'd pull the trigger regardless, get rid of Dunn and beef up your pitching staff. He's definitely shooting himself in the foot by giving away his best pitcher for a slightly-above-average hitter who K's more than anyone I know.
even though you'd have a big hole in your OF, i'd do it. dunn won't be a keeper much longer, but greinke will. if he has a better OF option than luke scott, then try to counter him in that offer. if not, hopefully there is a good option on waivers for you... gutierrez, cuddyer, garrett jones, etc.
