Owner wants Holliday from me...WHIR

Postby magus » Sat Jul 25, 2009 2:30 am

Offered me Yunel Escobar (SS), Jason Kubel (OF), Jose Valverde (RP) and David Aardsma (RP) for Matt Holliday in a 10 team keeper. We keep 14 players with R, HR, RBI, SB, and AVG as the offensive cats. Here's my team:

Batters
C: Pablo Sandoval (C,1B,3B)
1B: Derrek Lee (1B)
2B: Martin Prado (1B,2B,3B)
3B: Scott Rolen (3B)
SS: Ben Zobrist (2B,SS,OF)
IF: Nick Johnson (1B)
OF: Alex Rios (OF), Bobby Abreu (OF), Jayson Werth (OF), Mark DeRosa (1B,2B,3B,OF)
Util: Michael Cuddyer (OF)
BN: Matt Holliday (OF), Magglio Ordonez (OF), Chris Davis (1B,3B) NA, Carlos Beltran DL(OF)
DL: Jose Reyes (SS)

Pitchers
SP: David Price (SP), Edwin Jackson (SP), Joe Saunders (SP)
RP: Matt Capps (RP), Heath Bell (RP)
P: James Shields (SP), Randy Wolf (SP), Derek Lowe (SP)
BN: Scott Baker (SP), Trevor Cahill (SP)
DL: Edinson Volquez (SP), Brandon Webb (SP)

A 4 for 1 is pretty tough for a team like mine that has just taken a beating this year as far as injuries are concerned. I'm just trying to get a feel for what other cafe members think about this deal and how I might use it to my advantage. What do you think? Leave a link and I'll hit you back.

does he have other relievers to offer?

escobar and kubel are not really needed, you're already just fine in those areas - Holliday could/should have a monster 2H - I wouldn't do it

No way I would do this trade. You'd be trading a great keeper for a few people who you would MAYBE consider keeping.

Also, Holliday's value is only going to go up. Hold of on trading him until right before the deadline or at least another week as hitting behind Pujols will only help him.

So this is defiantly a no!

tell him no. holliday is going to have a great 2nd half in st. louis. give holliday a week or 2 to get really hot, then if you want to trade him, go for a heavy hitting IF.
