Keeper Deal, Tex/Longoria involved... WHIR...LEAVE A LINK!!

Postby bazzy_51 » Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:03 pm

Hey all im in a 12 team h2h Keeper league currently sitting in 3rd place 3 games up on the 4th place team, 1 game behind 2nd and 17 behind 1st... standard yahoo 5x5 scoring... also again its a keeper league...

so i my team hasn't been too bad as of late, its just that im not gaining/losing ground on the 1st place team, but the 4th and 5th place teams are gaining ground on me... looking to make a couple more moves to solidify a run for this year but also keep my keeper squad in tact (sorry don't know the exact number of keepers yet, guessing 6-8)

so heres the squad...

C-Kurt Suzuki
1B-Alber Pujols
2B-Dustin Pedroia
3B-Scott Rolen
SS-Stephen Drew
OF-BJ Upton
OF-Bobby Abreu
OF-Garrett Jones
UTIL-Mark Teixeira
BN-Aubrey Huff, Chris Iannetta, JJ Hardy, Curtis Granderson, Jason Kubel, Rafael Furcal (just dumped Chris Davis and used the 10th waiver priority to get him, thought it was a big win!)
DL-Carlos Delgado

SP-Roy Halladay
SP-CC Sabathia
SP-Tim Lincecum
RP-Max Scherzer (just holding a RP slot right now)
RP-David Aardsma
RP-Leo Nunez
P-Scott Baker
P-Jair Jurrjens
P-Ubaldo Jimenez
BN-Ervin Santana, Tommy Hanson
DL-Matt Lindstrom

so i was brainstorming on a possible deal, do know if its even close to a possibility of being excepted, or if im giving potentially too much right now, or if i should just stand pat...

Offering to him:
I Give: Mark Teixeira, Aubrey Huff, Bobby Abreu and one of either Garrett Jones (sell high) or Tommy Hanson (sell keeper value)
I Get: Grady Sizemore, Evan Longoria, Matt Capps or Trevor Hoffman

now what are your thoughts on this, am i way off here what should i add/delete? i mean the guy has Todd Helton starting 1B and DLee, but his SP is terrible, anchored by John Lackey and Joba...

also any other deals you think i should attempt to make??

I'd go something smaller. If it were my team, I'd go something like this:

Give: Tex, Jair Jurrjens
Get: Longoria, Capps

Jair is an excellent sell high candidate right now. He's at the height of his value as we speak right now, and I would NEVER give up Hanson in a keeper league. YOu have a stud at 1B (Pujols) and need the closer and 3B help in a keeper league. See if you can pull that off. And if he won't, add Huff into the deal. You're not losing a WHOLE lot in him

help?

I agree. Those muti-package deals are hard to gage. Try this one!

first of all, leave capps alone. saves is one point in h2h, just punt it.

now to the trade. I think you are over thinking this one. offer tex, abreu, huff and jurrjens for sizemore and longoria. or tex, huff and jurrjens for longoria and helton. tex and jurrjens is perhaps slightly overpaying for longoria, when you factor in one plays 1b, and the other plays a harder to fill position. but helton has outperformed huff this year so you make it up there.

I would do Tex/Jurrjens/Abreu for Longoria/Hoffman (stay away from Capps, as he could get traded and used as a set up man), I liked your original deal, but in the eyes of the Longoria owner it looks like I am giving up 2 1st rounders for 1, the looks of Pujols/Longoria/Lincecum as a basis of a keeper league is very nice.

help with mine?

Starting from square one, you primarily need to upgrade C, 3B, and SS. Getting Longoria for Tex is good, as you upgrade 3B at the cost of a guy who is Utility at best (unless Pujols gets hurt). Tex is great, but you can probably get equal production from others by cycling in hot players from your bench.

If you can get Sizemore for Abreu and someone on your bench, go for it!

Thanks for the help with mine...
