Holliday with 2 HR tonight. That gives him a .493 AVG, 6 HR, 21 RBI, 20 runs, 4 SB since July 11, including his last week in Oakland. Over that span, he's increased his AVG by 40 points to .313. Since joining the Cards, a .606 AVG, 3 HR, 8 runs, 10 RBI, and one SB in 34 AB.
Glad to see him in the NL again.

Yeah he's finally motivated, plus that p.o.s McGwire isn't giving him any more hitting "coaching". I am pleased he bit his tongue while he was with us, good job Matt.

He's gonna cost the franchise some big $$$ to resign at this rate.
I'm gonna predict that he won't sign for you. Combination of bad timing (LAA,NYY) for STL, and wrong agent (Boras). You heard it here first.

The biggest issue is #5's contract, which needs to be extended and will likely cost the Cards $20 million/yr. I think the odds of Pujols leaving are relatively small, to huge of a PR hit and he's the franchise player. However, factoring in that extension, plus other raises that are due (Wainwright, Ludwick, Carpeter, Lohse, etc) means the Cardinals have enough flexibility either to sign ONE big name player, or several league average performers.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
