If that is what the Cardinals are getting in this deal, then this deal does not help the Cards out nowhere near as much as some might think. If the move to the NL and Pujols in the lineup makes Holliday a 900ish+ OPS guy the rest of the year, this could be a move that pays off for St. Louis this year. But still 6 years of Wallace even with probable bad defense is alot to pay.
Don't forget that Holliday also has a .877 career OPS at the Oakland Coliseum. He simply hits better at home than away - regardless of where what team he plays for. Also, at the new Busch, he has a career OPS of 1.350, and a career average of .297 at NL Central ballparks.
This trade is the ultimate risk/reward for the Cardinals. Personally, I think this makes them the clear favorite in the division, and probably top three in the NL.
Win for Oakland Win/Loss for St. Louis Win for Holliday owners
His Home/Away numbers increased every year until he got traded this year.

It's LaRussa's philosophy that keeping AP in the 3 slot gets him more ABs. Also, there won't be as many IBBs with Holliday and Ludwick behind him.

Mega FAIL and death to La Russa?
I'm not saying they will or won't, just wondering.
LaRussa ain't the GM.
La Russa has been flapping his alcoholic gums about getting Holliday since about the 2nd day of the season. You'd think if everything was fair and above board he'd take the hit for this.
Your GM actually had the nads to draft a Oakland-esque fatty like Wallace in the first place, so he should get kudos not the axe.
