I'm torn. While I've said that the Cardinals need to do everything possible to put quality players around Pujols and Carp while they are still in their primes this seems like a high price to pay, especially if Holliday leaves at the end of the season.

Was there ever any doubt Beane would get more back?
I don't think he would have done it if he wasn't confident he could fleece somebody, the general thought process being that teams didn't have the money last off season to sign big bats, so he knew they would be more willing to trade for them at the deadline.
