He was a member of the best postseason team ever. A world series winner. Pitched a no-hitter, and pitched a perfect game. Plus the guy is still in his early thirties? If he manages 15 wins for another 8 years, does he make it to the HOF?

We'll worry about the HOF is that happens...
As of now most people would lean towards no. He has not been dominant enough. He has been a very very good pitcher for most of his career, but to make the HOF you have to dominate games, take games over. He has had too many mediocre seasons. Only once has he had a season with an ERA below 3.25, he has never struck out 170.
He'd have to be very dominant in his next few years (top 3 Cy Young a few times)...

First he has to manage to win 15 games over the next 8 years. That is hardly a given. If he does, he will have 250 plus wins, so depending on his other stats, he could have a shot. But do you really see him winning 15 games for the next 8 years?
I don't think he will be a HOF player when it is all said and done.
ok... but how many players have the hardware he does. How many players in history have pitched a no-no and a perfect game? 5-6 maybe? How many have won a world series on the best team in postseason history? He isn't a lights out pitcher, but how can you argue with his career accomplishments?

So two games (perfect and no hitter) and a 7 game series qualifies him as one of the best pitchers in his generation? I'd like some of what you are smoking.

I believe there was just a story on ESPN a month or so ago saying buehrle and Sabathia had the next best shots at 300 wins. I say if he wins 250 he's in, as I believe that will be the new threshold pitchers will be kept to..
Buerhle is nowhere near a HOF pitcher. Good, maybe, occasionally. But never great.
As an aside. Buerhle is one player I will NEVER EVER EVER have on a fantasy team EVER AGAIN. I had him in 2006, in which through the first half of the season he was fine and dandy with a 3.20 ERA, and then in July absolutely imploded on me. His July numbers: 0-5 with a 11.49 ERA and 1.99 WHIP in 26.2 IP. He single-handedly sunk my season, and because he had been so good, I kept thinking the disastrous starts were just flukes until it was too late. I will never forgive him for this - it is the only personal fantasy grudge I have against a player.
