Trade uproar - valid?

I'm commish in a competitive yahoo 12 team H2H league (R, HR, SB, BB, K, AVG- W, L, CG, SV, K, WHIP, ERA) with league veto, not commish. I've personally had two trades of some caliber this year, and there has been some uproar from a few teams about them - because they were my trades and I'm therefore a bit biased, I wanted to get some outside advice on them...

First trade was earlier in the season, mid-June. I gave Greinke/Ethier, got Morneau/BJ Upton. Greinke was dominating, Ethier was hot, Morneau was damn good, and Upton was cold. The owner I traded with had been quite inactive, but in shopping Greinke around, he was one that bit. The manager has since been very inactive, which led some managers to question the trade - I was hoping it would get him more involved and active in the league, but it didn't.

The most recent trade, that sparked the uproar, was between me in 2nd place and a team in 4th. I gave C. Lee, Reyes, Kendrick, and Kuroda, I got Kinsler, Rollins, Bruce (DL) and J. Zimmermann (DL).

So basically, I'm just looking for some input - regardless of rosters and needs, I know - but 2 managers called these trades "slimy, lopsided, suspicious, disgusting, and nauseating." I think they're definitely acceptable trades, but want some others insight - are they right?

Hey, thanks for the help with mine. These two trades in question are not that bad. Granted you got the best from both of them but still not vetoable. I love the first one for you, Greinke is a great pitcher but we all knew he wasn't going to keep up those numbers all year and on such a crappy team he wasn't going to win that many games either.

Agreed. You win on both deals for this year. I do think that the guy who got Reyes wins in the long run (if this is a keeper league).

The commish is always going to get questioned anytime you get the better end of a deal. Ive had this happen many times too. Its not collusion, you shopped the guys around, so the trades stand.

One way ive prevented this is anytime im in the market for a trade, i started posting it on the message board. Something like "Greinke for trade, looking for a 1B" etc, and then send out several offers. Sometimes when people offer me a lopsided trade, i'll of course take the deal but also post a message similar, saying "taking offers for Greinke" or something, just before accepting it, just for the sake of appearances. kinda like interviewing several people even though you already know who you're going to hire... Then at least it shows it isnt collusion.

Someone is always going to win a trade, and I think you win both of them

Winning a trade does not make it unfair though
