Who Do You Think Won This Trade?

Postby rasto21585 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:02 pm

Like what the title says, who do you think won? Also this is a dynasty league.

team a gets youkklis, hanley, haren and volquez

team b gets morneau, alex rios, sandoval, colby rasmus, carlos lee and wandy rodriguez

BTW I would like to add some details I forgot to mention that might explain why I made this trade. For starters this is a 20 team dynasty league. So depth is important. Also I posted my team below to give you guys an idea of how my team looks after trading away haren, hanley, youk and volquez. I think this might change some people's thoughts.

I say team A because Hanley is the best player and Haren is an amazing pitcher. Plus Youkilis is one of the top hitters in the AL and Volquez will probably get better.

Morneau side... Haren is a total first half pitcher, he does this year in and year out, blasts away first half and slides in the 2nd half... HanRam hasn't been as STELLAR as previous years and Volquez hasn't done jack... Rios is still a good source of a power/speed combo OFer and Sandoval burst onto the scene but is showing hes got madass potential and is producing with the best of them hes got great eyes at the plate, Rasmus is the center piece of the trade in a Dynasty league, if he can become what everyone said he could do hes gonna be a true stud for years and years to come, Wandy isn't at the level of Haren by any means but has had a great year thus far and has the talent to be a stand out arm, and then theres the 2 center pieces of the deal Morneau and CLee both vet power bats and consistant bats... way i look at it...

Morneau>Youk
CLee/Wandy>>Haren/Volquez
Rios/Sandy/Rasmus=<Hanley

i usually don't like quantity over quality, but you are getting great talent coming back and still young talent coming back...

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

I think team A wins. Team B has a bunch of marginal players mixed in with Mourneau and Carlos Lee.
Mourneau is more valuable than Youkilis at 1st base, however Youk is eligible at 3rd as well. Hanley is the most valuable player in the entire deal, and Haren is a top 3 pitcher. Carlos Lee is solid but his power has dropped off and I think outfielders are a dime a dozen.

Help with mine?

I agree . Team A. I don't believe in things like players fall off after the ASB. Or they take off after the ASB. Every year is different. I think you should always get the best players. Team A ha the best players. What happens happens.

ok 2 things, and the first point is also pointed at a couple other posts about Haren, stats don't lie... 2006: PreASB ERA-3.52 PostASB-4.91, 2007: PreASB-2.30 Post ASB-4.15, 2008: PreASB-2.72 PostASB-4.18... i mean thats the past 3 years of pitching for Haren and according to his stats your looking at at least a 1.5+ higher ERA 2nd half, i mean stats prove the trends and nothing has really changed IP wise, since 2006- Pre-127.2 Post-95.1, 2007 Pre-129.1 Post-93.1, 2008 Pre-125.2 Post-90.1 and then theres this year 129 IP, and a 2.01 ERA 1st half, you think hes really going to be a top 3 Arm the rest of the way?? i think not...

and on to the 2nd part about Carlos Lee, his Power has dropped off? where am i missing that at, cuz to me looks like hes just about on his way to another 25-30 HR 100-110 RBI .300+ AVE season... and calling Sandoval Margin is just about absurd, hes sporting a .322 average at a C eligible spot with 15 dings and 56 rbi playing for fricken SanFran, also Wandy just marginal at 10 Wins, 117 Ks, 2.72 ERA?? Come on everyone sees that name Hanley and just with that the trade is won on that side, Morneau is a monster, and even with Youk having 3B elig. hes still not nearly equal to Justin, not to mention Rasmus on that side in a DYNASTY league, kid is going to be something special...

I will take the Haren/Hanley side anyday especially in a dynasty league.

hi there i was the first poster in this particular thread. I would love to reply to the ridiculous message left behind by Bazzy_51. He points out that people are drawn to Hanley cos he's a "big name"...i wish i had his name in my lineup because as of now (23/07/09) he has a .348 BA, 15HRs, 62 RBIs....the main thing to consider in a trade is who is the best player so yes, Bazzy_51, people are going to look and see that he is the best player. But the deal isn't good for Team A just because of Hanley. This is where my second point comes in. You mention Haren's second half performance in detail and how the Rasmus's and Sandovals will be getting in the years to come because this is a DYNASTY league. Well son, you are comparing unproven rookies to Dan Haren who is a top 5 pitcher right NOW and is the best pitcher in the entire trade. Colby Rasmus could be good too, i'm not knocking him but atm, no. So, so far, we have HanRam (best player in the trade) and Haren (best pitcher in the league). Even if his ERA goes up in second half by 1.5 runs as your technical analysis indicates (btw i'm being sarcastic) he would have a 3.48 era, better than any of the other rubbish from Wandy Rodriguez (who btw is a .500 pitcher after 6 seasons) ...whereas Volquez has a much higher upside (don't even bother to disagree with that).

Morneau is a monster but look at what you get back. Youkilis can basically match his figures save for a couple of HRs and RBIs. (look up Youkilis' projected stats before you start moaning).

One last thing Bazzy_51. Sorry for picking on you but i hate stoopid posts like yours. Second half performances are going to go down for every single baseball player save for a few. Why? Tiredness. These guys play alot of games and their first half perfs are gonna be much better. Look at Josh Hamilton last year. That doesn't make him a "1st half player". Anyway i've said my peace.

Team A...but it's far from a landslide. There's a lot of value on Team B's side. I think I'd have to know the rosters and how this effects them to make a true assessment. In a vacuum, I'd take Team A.
