Could tonight be Chris Tillman's last Minor League start?

Postby Y`s Guy » Wed Jul 22, 2009 6:04 pm

It looks like Chris Tillman could be headed north to Baltimore, folks. The probable for tonight is Chris Waters, not Tillman!!

I found and posted a link yesterday that said there was a rumor that Tillman would debut v. Kansas City next week. Now this late scratch.

Could it be Tillman time?

Tillman out!!

MASN reports that Orioles SP Chris Tillman didn't make his scheduled start for Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday. He is now scheduled to pitch on Thursday, but that could very well change if he's called up by the Orioles.(Updated 07/22/2009).

I have Tillman in my keeper CBS League. Here's the blurb for the kid...

Chris Tillman, SP BAL
News: Orioles manager Dave Trembley said Wednesday that he'll probably speak Friday in Boston with president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail before deciding whether to remove struggling LHP Rich J. Hill from the rotation.
Analysis: The speculation remains that if Trembley and MacPhail indeed decide to remove the struggling Hill from the rotation, that top prospect Chris Tillman would take his place and start on Monday against the Royals. This situation definitely bears keeping an eye on but Hill is barely an AL-only Fantasy option at this point.

I'm in 2 keepers (6 and 8) and one redraft, I'm over in innings pitched by anywhere from 44-120. I just can't afford to add him. I might pick him up just so no one else can get him. But honestly I dont think he will make a huge fantasy impact this year

Here is a Baltimore Sun blurb stating that moving Tillman from his regular start tonight to a Thursday night start instead lines him him up for a Tuesday night start where Berken is scheduled...

Tillman over Berken?

As for fantasy value for Tillman...I think he has some risk this year for redraft leagues. Killer value value for keepers, especially those that give low-round value for WW pick ups.

EDIT: Holy crap! Andy Behren's just gave me a prop

Here is the latest on my new fascination...Chris Tillman. I picked out some info of interest as the kid is on an innings limit. Perhaps if he comes up soon to Baltimore he may get about 50 innings?

Tillman is at 93 innings right now and the most he has pitched in one season is 136. Do the O's have a final innings tally in mind for Tillman for this season?

"You usually don't want to jump someone over 20 or 25 more innings than what he had the year before. We'll take care of him. He threw a lot of pitches in innings early in the year, it's not always just the innings, but the number of pitches, too."

Tillman starts Thursday Night!!
