Need help with who to pick at SP? WHIR!

Postby WhipperSnappers44 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 7:39 am

Hey all....I am in need of an SP since I only have 5 (I have been picking decent WW Offensive guys and seem to have came up short on the SP department)

I need to know who will be better for the rest of the season (at least in the immediate future)! Thanks and I will help you if needed!

12 Team Standard Yahoo H2H (10CAT 5X5) I am currently in 1st place but people are catching fast!

WW Pitchers available: F.Liriano, J. Piniero, C.Volstad, A.Cook, R.Porcello, G.Meche, J.Smoltz, N.Blackburn, A.Pettitte, (That's really about all folks)

Here is my team:
B.Inge, R.Howard, B.Roberts, A.Huff, C.Barmes, Ichiro, A.Lind, Adam Jones, R.Ludwick, M.DeRosa, V.Wells, D.Uggla, F.Gutierrez (I will be dropping him due to his recent injury)

R.Nolasco, A.Wainwright, M.Buerhle, AJ Burnett, J.Marquis, B.Jenks, C.Qualls, D.Aardsma

Thanks again all! I WHIR!!!

Pick up Liriano immediately. He is still somewhat inconsistent, but he has had some good outings recently. I actually have him slated as roughly a #3 starter in a 12 team league. He's not meeting expectations but he still has legit upside.

Meche and Volstad are the only other WW options even worth considering. They are probably both borderline #5 or #6 starters. If you get either of them, I would only use them as spot starters when they have favorable matchups. But, really, you don't have anybody that is worth dropping to make room for Meche or Volstad (assuming you drop Gutierrez for Liriano).

I would also say that Marquis is only a spot starter for you, as well. Marquis as basically equal in value to Meche and Volstad. Since there aren't any options clearly better than him, I'm not suggesting you drop him. But If I were you I would consider using that roster spot to rotate among Marquis, Volstad, Meche (and even the other guys you mentioned) based upon who is hot/cold, who has the best/worst matchups.

Help with mine?
