C - Wieters 1B - Howard 2B - Figgins SS - Drew 3B - Arod OF - JUpton, Hamilton, Markakis Util - Votto B - Quentin, Ethier, Sanchez, Scott
SP - Halladay, Oswalt, Vasquez, Nolasco, Scherzer RP - Soria, Soriano, Wilson DL - Slowey
My trade for Halladay went through last weekend which was great, but my team had another mediocre week, somehow leaving the above squad tied for last place. Now, obviously with the team I've got, they should turn it around soon and make the playoffs (I'm only 11 games out of 6th place), but with each passing week that I don't gain any ground, I get more and more nervous. I think the only spots I really should be looking to upgrade at this point are C, SS, and SP. Despite trading away Abreu and Victorino in the last month, I STILL have too much OF depth. Looking at our league, there's only 4 catchers ranked in the top 200, and 3 of them (Mauer, Sandoval, and Inge) are on teams that don't need OF help.
That leaves VMart. In a vaccuum, I'd probably never do this trade, as I love JUp and think he's gonna be a stud for years to come. But it's not a keeper league, and I wouldn't be surprised if his value has peaked and he doesn't match his first half the rest of the way. I'm just not sold on Wieters right now and VMart would be a great upgrade for me at C, and my OF obviously has the depth to withstand losing Upton, especially if Quentin returns to last year's form.
Would you guys pull the trigger on this?
Also, this guy has Hanley as well. I'm thinking of offering a Howard+JUp+Drew for VMart+Hanley trade. He wins in overall value for sure, but it gives me a more complete lineup from top to bottom.
I would do the trade for VMart in a second but I doubt the other guy will do it considering it's not a keeper league. Your other offer sounds good too but I don't think it would be enough for the other guy to give up the best SS in the league. But, it's worth a shot.
since it's not a keeper, then i'd do the upton for martinez trade. i wouldn't do the 2nd deal... you're giving up a lot. i know it's hanley, but i'd keep howard and upton. stephen drew generally has a better 2nd half, so good luck there.
haha, exactly. First thing I did was scan your post to see if it was a keeper league or not. Agreed with the others, if you can get him to do it, take it running.
make the deal, as you can put quentin in for upton and get wieters out of your lineup. I however disagree about the hanley idea not being good for you. hanley is better than howard, and while upton is better than v-mart, it's not by enough to overcome the gap between hanley and howard.
