wakefield out Bucholtz in

Postby plainyogurt » Tue Jul 21, 2009 6:02 pm

Wakefield was put on Dl with a strained lower back.

Bucholtz recalled and will start Wednesday in Texas.

Pending on how long Wakefield is out, and Smoltz does and a trade maybe with Penny..Bucholtz could possibly be up for good..Either with the sox or somebody else..

Who is starting him against Tex?

I thought I heard that you can go up and down as many times as they want you to during the year of your last option.
So from what I understood, even if a guy only had 1 option left, he could still go back and forth all year long until the end of the season.

Not sure it really matters much with Buchholz. He's should be seeing major action in the 2nd half one way or another.

Me. And hoping the last 2 days were a fluke. I really need him to do well, since Smoltz killed me on Monday. Either way (win or lose his week), I think he will do very well the rest of the year. Say bye-bye Penny.....

fwiw options are years you can be sent up and down, not individual trips

The Red Sox were hoping Wakefield would start throwing Monday, but he was in too much pain. His throwing session went off without a hitch Tuesday. "Good," he said. "I'm still not pain free, but it's tolerable." The Red Sox are hoping to activate and start him August 2 against Baltimore.

Sounds like they're hurrying him back a bit. :-[
