Trade Lester away?

Postby bzborow1 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 10:33 am

Hi guys,

I'm in a 15 team mixed 5x5 league that allows 8 keepers per year. I'm currently in a neck and neck battle for first place in the pool. I am fairly solid in the pitching categories but am in a tighter race in the power categories. I was thinking of offering the following trade:

I get:
J.Lopez (SEA), J.Kubel, G.Floyd

I give:
J.Lester, S.Schumaker, D.Meyer

Is it worth it?

15 team 5x5 keeper league
C- B.McCann
1B- L.Berkman
2B- F.Lopez
3B- R.Zimmerman
SS- T.Tulowitzki
MI- Skip Schumaker
CI- P.Feliz
OF- R.Braun, BJ Upton, S.Choo, J.Dye
DH- D.Fowler
SP- M.Cain, C.Kershaw, J.Lester, M.Scherzer, B.Anderson, R.Wolf
RP- H.Bell, H.Street

Bench hitters - B.Wood, S.Hairston, J.Pierre
Bench pitchers - S.Kazmir, D.Meyer, M.Rzepczynski

I don't think you are getting enough in this deal. Have you advertised Lester's availablity to the league? Lester is an excellent keep option in a league that keeps 120 player. Advertise his availability and your wants and let the other owners fight over him.

Agree. Not enough for Lester. Shoot for someone like Dunn.

I agree, Lester is keep worthy, and no one else in the deal is, so that means it's a bad deal unless it helps you win this year. I don't think it does.

Yeah you are looking for power and might as well get a POWER hitter, not someone who might get 25 hrs and thats if he gets consitent playing time (Kubel) or a so so 2B with 15-20 potential (Lopez) at least Felipe Lopez may give you 12-15 hrs plus 15-20 steals so you are better off with him, as stated at least shoot for a 40 homer hitter, preferebly someone with 1B/3B potential since Feliz is your weak link, and not more OF you have too many already.
