I am last in my league in saves and I just traded Furcal for Matt Capps. I would like one more closer so I am thinking of proposing Cain for Mariano. I have Greinke, Verlander, Josh Johnson, and Wainwright, so I think my rotation could handle losing Cain. That would give me Mariano, Capps, J.P. Howell, and MacDougal/Beimel (the Nats are now going by comittee) as my closers. Should I propose the trade?

i'd rather keep cain and trade willingham plus a bench pitcher for mariano. starting pitchers are more useful than relievers in my opinion, and cain is a great one.
i would say try moving Capps with someone else for an upgrade at closer. wasnt Capps a possibility to be traded by the Pirates? ive been looking into trading for closers, but havnt looked into much for Capps because i thought maybe the Pirates could trade him. i know there was talk before of the Pirates trading him to Florida, where i assume he would close.. But Florida has been losing so thats less likely. still even if Capps remains in Pittsburgh theres not going to be alot of save chances. you would be better to move Capps plus someone else for an upgrade at closer. you could even also try moving Howell with someone else for an upgrade at closer. TB might want to look for a more sure thing at closer and that could make Howell alot less valuable in fantasy.
i dont think i would use Cain to get Rivera. Rivera is one of the better closers and should have alot of saves, but saves are just on category and closers dont really pitch enough to make an impact in ERA/WHIP this time of season. Cain is a good fantasy starter helpful in multiple categories.
i also dont see alot of value in having both MacDougal and Beimel. they could both get saves, but Washington is the worst team in baseball so saves wont happen that often in Washington.
maybe you could try Capps (or Howell) with one of MacDougal or Beimel for a closer from a winning team. you could sell the 2 closers as 2 closers for 1 closer, but still the 1 closer could end up with more saves through the rest of the season plus you give yourself a free roster spot. maybe look for the owners who are bad in ERA/WHIP and tell them even if your current closers arnt getting saves they could still be helpful in ERA/WHIP.
