Postby TruValue » Mon Jul 20, 2009 10:19 am

Starting pitchers spend their entire careers on one team in our league as they are valuable. Most teams keep three pitchers and three batters but some keep 4 or 5 pitchers, going into this season my keepers were CC, Weaver, Lincecum, Beltran, Youkilis, and Lester. Minors kept were Bumgarner, Inman, and Samardzija. I need to accomplish two things in reviewing this trade with everyone.

I need to see if the value I am getting for Lester is good? I feel it is but let me know what you all think.

Who would I drop to maintain roster guidelines? (13 batters, 13 pitchers, 3 DL, We can start and combination of 5 pitchers on any day, RP or SP) Dempster would go to the DL but he will come back, I could attempt to move him between now and when the deadline comes in early August maybe for a draft pick. I suppose dropping Baker and one of my current closer would be ok to make room for Cordero and Buehle. As far as batter I would assume dropping Winn and Swisher would allow for my bench to become my starters and some of my reserves to be improved.

Who would become my possible keepers for next year? I don’t want to throw away my future for a hope at this year. My projected keepers would be CC, Lincecum, Kemp, then is a mess that will have to be decided after the season, would I have a good stable to choose from?

I am assuming it's for only one of those players, if it's for all then its a no brainer, but picking one I would go with Kemp.

help with mine?

Its for all of them.

The help I need is for who to drop on my team and who I might keep at seasons end.

I prefer Kemp over Lester, so if you are getting all of those players, I would definitely go for it. I would just drop Winn, Wolf, Lannan, and Pavano.

I am trying to work some deals for guys I might drop. Combo them together for one good player. Then roster who I would be getting for Lester. Having all of those bats on my bench will not help me, I can start 5 P every day and really should. Its a points league not a roto so more starts help even if only worth 5-10 points. Thanks for the help.

I have an update.

I gave the following
Blake, Lester, Swisher and Winn

I got in return
Buehrle, Dempster, Holliday, Kemp, and Markakis

He took back Cordero and I asked for M. Holliday. He wasn't sure so I threw in who I would be dropping so he could do as he pleased with them before they hit the waiver wire and he went with it. Pitching is worth sooo much in this league and it shows in trades like this. We keep six so after the trade who looks like my keepers? Getting Kemp and Holliday give me the opportunity to maybe move Beltran before the deadline.

Who would I keep my predictions are in BOLD.
