is Wright even a keeper at this point?

Postby dubstar » Sun Jul 19, 2009 8:09 pm

I know I dont have to decide this for a while still, but I am really starting to think I wont keep David Wright. He certainly isnt performing like a 1st rounder, or really a second rounder for that matter. If you had to choose 3 to keep right now from my team who would it be?

Wright is probably still a keeper. His SB numbers are up and even though he isn't hitting the homers, his RBIs and Rs totals aren't too bad. He's still very young and you know he has the power for 25-30 homers a season, so even if he hits something like 10 this year, it doesn't mean he will never hit for power again.

kemp and greinke are locks in my mind because one is a 5 tool stud and the other is a 4 category ace. I'd let fielder and wright fight it out for the last spot in the 2nd half. personally, I lean towards wright still but wouldn't blame you for keeping fielder.

really, you can't go wrong with any of fielder, kemp, greinke and wright.

I don't know. To me, Wright and Fielder are locks and the decision is between Kemp and Greinke.

With only 3 keepers allowed you want to be certain each is a stud. Therefore I wouldn't keep a pitcher as they are less reliable year to year than are stud bats. Yo me your 3 right now are Fielder, Kemp, and Wright, in that order. If winter trades are permitted, I'd work hard to move Greinke and one of your three keeper bats for a top 5 stud.

He is still a keeper. I would keep Wright, Fielder, and Kemp. Wright will still be a valuable keeper option even if his power doesn't show up this year. He is still young, has shown power before, his steals are up, and his help in the lineup has been decimated this year.

I agree with everyone else. Wright is still a keeper. His power numbers are way down but he's still hitting .320 and still has 20 sb. All the injuries to the Mets' lineup surely hurt his overall numbers.

I would keep Prince also, despite the fact 1B is a deep position.

As 3rd keeper I would debate over Kemp and Greinke. Right now I would lean towards Kemp. As the others said hitters are more dependable year to year than pitchers. Also with only 3 keepers per team there will be plenty of Pitchers available to draft next year.

Can you help with mine?
