have not seen anything, but his pitch count was at 93.

He's been on a slowly increasing but still pretty tight pitch count since his return from the DL. The 93 pitches did him in. Should in theory be at 100 for his next start, also against that woeful Cleveland offense later this week, so we should start seeing better results out of him.

Don't look now, but after only getting through 3 innings on Saturday Bedard is going to get his shoulder looked at again on Sunday.

Erik Bedard made it just three innings after throwing 81 pitches, walking four batters and pitching deep in the count too many times. He gave up his two runs on a single by Jhonny Peralta in the third, and hit the showers after the inning was over.

Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said afterward he thought Bedard, who was making his fourth start since coming off the disabled list, may still be experiencing a little discomfort in his left shoulder. The two had a lengthy discussion following the game.

Bedard will be evaluated on Sunday, Wakamatsu said.

"He missed some spots a little bit," said catcher Rob Johnson. "I don't 100 percent know how he's doing, but he doesn't have that electric sharpness he normally has."

Bedard is scheduled for an MRI Friday and if the results are inconclusive, he will likely need to undergo another exploratory surgery, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Recommendation: Mariners' management is not optimistic that Bedard will pitch again this season, but his status remains unclear until the MRI results are known.

MRI revealed 'fraying' (not quite sure what that is) in his pitching shoulder, might be done for the year... they have to compare and review the MRI results before taking the next step of action... but word on the street has it he's done for the year.

Anybody heard anything yet? Today is the day he's supposed to met to determine whether he can pitch again this season.

Just dropped him in a 12 teamer. Needed the DL spot and it's likely that he's done...two years in a row I've been burned...too bad because when he's healthy (somewhere Rich Harden is laughing at me...) he's spot on.

I'd say keep him if you have the DL spot to burn but I would cut him loose if you need the pitching depth. My staff is a mess and I'm fighting for the last playoff spot so I had to cut him loose.
