Trade Lester for Hamilton?

Postby pangbones » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:16 pm

I'd have to give up Lester and Aardsma for Hamilton and Wolf. What do you think?

C - McCann
1B - A Gonzalez
2B - Uggla
3B - Wright
SS - S Drew
OF - Braun, Dye, Werth
Util - Markakis, Kubel

DL - Quentin, Maine

Bench - Thome, Ad LaRoche, Bruce

SP - Lester, Nolasco, J Shields, Bedard, Baker, Billingsley
RP - Qualls, Aardsma
Bench - J Zimmermann, T Hanson, Joba, R Johnson, Valverde

10 Team, 6*6 (OBP and K's for hitters and L's for Pitchers), H2H, Keeper (3 players, at least 1 hitter and 1 pitcher)

Really? It seems like you have plenty of outfielders and not enough closers. Obviously I don't know where you stand this year.

What are the 3 guys your keeping?

I'd guess Braun, Nolasco, Billingsly. I feel like you could get a lot more for Lester, he is a stud and looks to be one for a long time. Hamilton is good but this recent injury makes me hesitant even if he comes back 100%.

This seems like a "trade for the sake of a trade" sort of thing to me. No need to do this deal. If anything, I think you should be on the hunt for another RP. You'd have to start benching a hitter to make room for Hamilton, so you lose that production for whatever Hamilton gives you. Your SP look fine, I see no reason to make this deal happen.

Braun, Wright and Bills are my 3 keepers. I do have plenty of OF thats why I'm hesitant to make a trade, but I think Hamilton is gonna have a big 2nd half. I'm trying to move Quentin for a closer, but so far no luck. I already turned this offer down, just wanted to see what others thought. I countered Shields and Aardsma for those 2 and he declined it.

I would have done it. As good as Lester and Aards are, wouldn't having Hamilton over Dye or Kubel have been a boon? I'd rather chase Saves than OFs.
