Who would be getting the better end of the deal in trade of Brian Roberts and Josh Johnson for Chase Utley?

I think this an even trade. It mostly depends on what your needs are.

being a philies fan I would imediatly say utley but....getting roberts and johnson...hmmm id accept that deal...of course it would also depend on what what I needed but i would consider parting ways with utley in this trade so i would say who ever is getting roberts and johnson would get a slight advantage in the deal

I think JJ's so good that you could afford to give up Utley for that pair, assuming your dropper is pretty bad.

In an 8-teamer or a keeper circumstance, I say no, of course.

Fair deal. I would do it or not do it depending on what my team needs were in the steals/homers categories.

Very even, but without knowing anything else about league settings and your team, I'm taking Utley.

We need to know how big the league is, what the settings are, and who you're going to drop to answer this question fairly, though. If you can stand to lose the pitching and need power, then it's a great deal.

I made the original post when I was pretty tired and forgot to include some info. This is a deal I am thinking about proposing, it's a 6x6 league(standard plus 2B and IP). This is the first year of a brand new keeper league and my roster is as follows:

C-Pierzynski
1B-Prince Fielder
2B-Brian Robers
3B-Aramis Ramirez
SS-Hanley Ramirez
OF-Johnny Damon, Ryan Ludwick, Jason Kubel
Util-Miguel Cabrera
BN-Cody Ross
BN-Russell Branyan
DL-Torii Hunter

SP-Feix Hernandez
SP-Josh Johnson
SP-Randy Wells
SP-Randy Wolf
SP-Ricky Nolasco
SP-Doug Davis
SP-John Smoltz
SP-Jose Contreras
DL-Tim Hudson

In this league, if you make the playoffs you keep 4 players, if you don't you get to keep 5. Unless something drastic happens, I will be in the playoffs. I'm considering offering it because this would give me my 4th definite keeper(Cabrera, Hanley, Prince, Utley). As of right now, I'm on the fence about who the 4th would be. As of right now, Jarrod Washburn, Gavin Floyd, and Joe Blanton are all free agents so I would pick up one of them with my extra spot essentially making the deal Roberts/Johnson for Utley/Washburn.

I'd trade Roberts/Johnson for Utley + the open roster spot (one of those FA starters). Sets you up nicely for next season.

Help?
